ABOUT THIS GRID
Local contributors were drawn from the special schools and day centres. We also reached out to home-educated fledgling musicians such as Harry, grid ref 3C who used SoundBeam to create his music. Other contributors are from Kendal Day Centre, Lily, grid ref 3B, Mill Lane Day Centre, grid ref 5D, George Hastwell Special School, grid ref 5C, and from Cumbria Care, grid ref 3D and 5B. Of the professional artists recruited we were pleased to gain support from Jeannot Bel raised in Kinshasa, grid ref 1B. Colin from the Waterboys, grid ref 2D, Ben from Wild Beasts, grid ref 4A, Van Morrisons bass player Blenn, grid ref 3A and Maz O’Connor – Winner of the BB Performing Arts Fund Fellowship in 2014 (Adele was a previous recipient) grid ref 1D amongst others. We also commissioned the artist Lady Nade to provide an Accapella song in order to communicate the central message of the Magic Notes project. Lady Nade appears at grid reference 2B.
